Why I call Colin Goddard 'The Alchemist'

From Wikipedia:
Alchemy refers to a medieval quest for an elixir or kimia (Old Persian word for such an elixir, the concept for which was later arabicized as the word alchemy) capable of turning copper and other base metals to gold.. . .

Medieval alchemists devoted their lives to the unsuccessful quest for what Colin Goddard has achieved. While the conversion of base metals into gold forever eluded these proto-scientists, Goddard has managed to transmute the lead of the four bullets shot into his body at Virginia Tech, into the gold of a paid position on the Brady Campaign's (shrinking?) staff.

Perhaps not so bad, in itself, but to collect that gold, he actively lobbies to keep all college students as defenseless and helpless as he was. In other words, he has put the security of others up for sale, for his own profit.

Can there be anything more contemptibly, loathsomely evil?

If I were religious, I might call him a "Judas" collecting his 30 pieces of silver.

How do you go through the terror that he must have gone through and then campaign to make sure your friends go through the same thing by making them as defenseless as he was?

Kurt '45superman' Hofmann said...

"Judas" works quite well, too.

Guess I'm willing to risk it, Mr. Bravely Anonymous.

I would like to see you in a face to face battle with someone of the same magnitude of 'defense' or firearms that you speak of. Then tell me what your feelings are :) hahaha

Help me out here, Mr. Bravely Anonymous--English translation, please?

Collin hid while an unarmed professor tried to block the door. There "were" people there brave enough not to become a victim. If more people were willing to do something about Cho, less may have died. People tackled Loughtner and they were unarmed. People tried to stop the terrorists on the plane that went down on 9/11, unarmed.

There are brave people willing to put it on the line. Collin wasn't one of them. He was a victim. I agree with that. He was a victim. Don't make him into some kind of hero because he got shot 4 times.

And typical, someone wants to see "me" dead or "burn in hell" but I'm labeled violent because I want to protect myself from what "happened" to Collin. Jesus, you people need a class in rational thinking.

They do seem to have elevated him to near-Messiah status, haven't they, Patrick? You mentioned Judas earlier.

On a related theme, it just occurs to me that for Goddard's groupies, it would have been even more in keeping with their reverence of him if he had sustained not four wounds, but five.

Amazing how much anti-gun activists wish violence and harm onto others w/ different opinions.

Guess that's why they're anti-gun. They know what they would do.

Kurt '45superman' Hofmann said...

Yep--they're so "non-violent" that they want gun owners to die. Violently.

It is amazing how your twist and turn your comments and never look at the causes of gun violence. The failure to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill is the problem. I notice no one mentions that. Nor do you mention the frightening similarities between the two school shootings in Virginia--Failure to heed warning signs, gross negligence at the time of the shooting, and the cover ups that followed. Congratulations for mudding the water and throwing that mud at a victim. You approach the problem with the intellectual power of a 40 watt light bulb and fall back on name calling. You must be proud of yourselves for helping to lay the groundwork for more school shootings.

Says David Cariens:

It is amazing how your twist and turn your comments and never look at the causes of gun violence.

The cause of "gun violence" is violent, predatory people.

The cure is decent people with guns to stop them. That's what I'm working for.

David Cariens said...

Decent people would exhaust every means to keep guns out of the hands of predatory, mentally ill people--be honest. If you were working for that, you would support laws to keep guns out of the hands of those who would harm themselves or others. There is a proposed law right now in the House that protects the Second Amendment, but makes it very hard for the mentally ill to buy guns. Eric Cantor and the Speaker of the House won't bring it to the floor for a vote because it was introduced by a Democrat. I support the second amendment--but I also support the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Please be honest and listen to all sides of the question. There is just a chance, you know, that someone might have an idea you have not thought of. Neither side is 100 % right or 100% wrong--Cantor's actions are disgusting.

Kurt '45superman' Hofmann said...

Says David Cariens (presumably with a straight face):

Neither side is 100 % right or 100% wrong . . .

Anyone who tries to interpret shall not be infringed out of the Constitutional protection of the fundamental human right of the individual to keep and bear arms is 100% wrong.

David Cariens said...

No one argues that point. Why won't you address what I said about Cantor and the Speaker of the House? That speaks volumes about your unwillingness to listen to other points of view. You know there may be someone out the with an idea that protects the Second Amendment and keeps guns out of the hands of predators. Why not listen to those ideas. The problem of gun violence is far bigger than any one blogger--in fact all blogs should welcome and be open to considering other's points of view.

David Cariens said...

Sorry, don't have time for name-calling. Or for immature people who engage in it. When people cannot argue and make a point intelligently, they resort to name calling.Too bad--this problem is far to serious to be dealt with by people who are emotionally immature and paranoid.

Silly me, I thought that in a democracy all sides had a right to be heard--listened to calmly and objectively. Then when you disagree, attack what you heard with ideas and facts. I am a strong supported of the First Amendment--freedom of speech. I enjoy listening to all sides, especially people who disagree with me. Sometimes I learn things and change my opinion. Try it--you may find it interesting and useful.
