Brady Campaign takes Trayvon Martin exploitation to new low

Where this situation goes from tragic to astounding is in the Brady Campaign's apparent unwillingness to settle for "merely" advocating for repeal of stand your ground, instead holding this tragedy up as an indictment of "shall issue" concealed carry in general, and of Judge Benson Legg's court ruling against Maryland's requirement of a "good and substantial reason" for issuance of a concealed carry permit (self-defense is not "good and substantial" enough for Maryland). Just hope the jury will be motivated to actually seek the truth rather than get wrapped up in emotional crap from either side.

There were reports that the shooter had been attacked and had two head wounds before he fired. That would make a lot of difference.

There is certainly a lot to look at here. Perhaps the most telling argument I've seen is that in pursuing and confronting Martin, Zimmerman was not "standing his ground," but advancing.

He deserves, as you say, a fair trial, in front of an open-minded jury.

One of the big problems, of course, is the fact that the newspaper accounts are pretty much all we have to work with here. Since MSM "reporting" of the unvarnished facts went the way of the dodo bird long ago, it will be hard for anyone not directly connected with the investigation to have much chance of discovering the truth.

A "jury" is very, VERY seldom truly open minded or uninfluenced by the prevailing hysteria generated by such an incident. Since it has already been "tried" in the press, the chance of any justice is remote.

And that's a real shame.
