'Harder to vote than to buy an assault weapon'? Maybe if you ignore economics

Besides, is anyone seriously trying to argue that the right to effective fighting arms is less fundamental than the right to vote? What would you rather say to the government hired gun coming to haul you off to the gulag--"Stop, or I won't vote for your boss," or "Stop, or I'll shoot your testicles off'?" Is Clinton also unaware that, "When democracy turns to tyranny, the armed citizen still gets to vote"? That's a dangerous lapse. [More]

That's today's St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner. Please give it a look, and tell a friend.

Of course, it's illegal for convicted felons, psychotics, or insane people to own firearms, so when politicians talk about banning "assault weapons," they mean making it illegal for sane, honest adult citizens to own AR-15's or Mini-14's. But those same politicians think it's a civil rights violation if a state requires a voter to show the same I.D. that he would need to buy a pack of cigarettes or a can of beer. Yeesh.

The "easier to buy an assault weapon than to vote" lie is right up there with "40% of gun sales don't go through a background check." With any politician, including Clinton or Obama, it's easy to tell whether he's lying. Just watch his mouth to see if it's moving.

The "poor" voters who can't afford I.D. (but who can afford cell phones and cable TV) are no more disenfranchised than the voters who were scared away from polls by Black Panthers with billy clubs.

Saying, "Stop, or I won't vote for your boss" to the storm troopers would be ineffective anyway. After the citizens are disarmed, the next step will be to abolish all elections and declare the incumbent president for life. In the interest of public safety and law & order, of course.
