Is everyone in Chicago an 'extremist bigot'?

The amicus briefs from the anti-rights side in the McDonald v. City of Chicago Second Amendment incorporation case are now appearing online, right at the deadline for filing. That's a whole lot of reading, and I have yet to make significant progress in getting through all of it. Still, a story about the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) brief caught my eye.

ADL's "friend of the court" brief in McDonald v. City of Chicago points to the long history of gun violence by anti-government and racist extremists. The brief describes three such examples in detail: the June 2009 shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, by avowed anti-Semite and white supremacist James Von Brunn (an incident which left a security guard dead); the April 2000 shooting spree in Pittsburgh by white supremacist Richard Baumhammers (which left five dead); and the deadly standoffs in Waco, Texas in 1993 and Ruby Ridge, Idaho in 1992.
Whether or not it is legitimate for any unit of government to disarm "extremists" (who would, presumably, get their "extremist" designation from that very government--which would seem to be a bit of a problem) is a topic worthy of discussion (and I've discussed it in the past), but there's a narrower issue here.

That issue is the fact that Chicago's handgun ban applies to everyone (except aldermen and the like)--not just the "extremists." In fact, although I don't have stats on hand, I'd be willing to bet that a disproportionate percentage of those prosecuted (or persecuted, perhaps) for violation of Chicago's gun laws are themselves members of ethnic minorities--just the folks whose protection the ADL claims to stand for.

Whose side is the ADL really on?

Update: An anonymous comment reminded me of something I should have mentioned myself. The plaintiffs in McDonald v. City of Chicago are themselves racially diverse, with Chris Otis (thanks for the correction, Anon) McDonald himself being black (McDonald is on the right):

I'll bet he's thinking "Gee--thanks, ADL!"

IIRC The plaintiffs involved with the Mcdonald represent a diverse group of races and both genders all wanting equal protection. Hmm

Very true, Anon--I should have mentioned that.

Yep. I am. If gays think butt_______ is ok and won't gitcha condemned, I definitely am. We know where we're going, so what does it matter what they think? Even if they come to our doors soon cause the smelly BO secretly started WWIII and they have to round-up the dissenters, the most important thing to have is faith, my friend. Obama's a weee pawn controlled by the One-World-Government; however, this Finite Existence is only like a triangle: our base is earth, yet, as we grow older, we finally succumb to our demise till we meet our Maker (top of the triangle). So, HEAR YE! O HEAR YE!! Meet me Upstairs in the Great Beyond for a celebration of our resurrection where we'll have a BIG-OL party till well after sundown. God bless.

Uh, excuse me, but do you suppose the ADL is unaware of the PRO-goverment racist extremists who murdered 6 million Jews and 7 million others? Sure seems like it. Or else they agree with it.

Did they miss the fact that only one died in D.C. with a very small number of deaths in the other incidents, except Waco? Comparatively speaking, that is very small when measured against 13 million killed by pro-government types. Especially when one realizes that pro-government types did the killings at Waco and Ruby Ridge which ADL falsely claims were done by racist anti-government types.

Can these sonsofbitches be any more racist than by supporting the idea that government should have all that power to murder without needing to fear the defensive capabilities of their victims? Isn't that exactly what enabled the murder of 13,000,000 in one government program alone?

Did these poor excuses for humanity not learn a damn thing from the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising? You know, that inconvenient little lesson in reality that murderers like a walkover where they need not fear the victims. Yeah, that one, where woefully under armed and outnumbered held the vaunted Wehrmacht at bay for two months with a handful of junk, firearms.

Look it up, that's twice as long as France held out.

I tend to think the ADL is the racist in the root cellar and their self-loathing is what compels them to recreate the conditions that annihilated so many of their ancestors.

Who fired first at Ruby Ridge?

Who fired first at Ruby Ridge?

The ADL must be following the Josh Horwitz script, and arguing that even if the government muscle did shoot first, the Weavers should just have sat there and taken it.
