Gun trafficking as compared to William Newell's definition of 'gunwalking'

H.R. 2554 is pure legislative theater, with no chance of accomplishing anything useful, although it would have been interesting to see how much of the Obama administration could have been swept up in the "Conspiracy" provision. Thus, charging someone with, and convicting him for, gun trafficking, requires clearing a vastly lower bar than would need to be cleared to meet Newell's definition of "gunwalking."

Remember when public servants were held to a
higher standard of conduct than the public they ostensibly served? [More]

So, that brings us back to the question in today's title--if Holder and Obama didn't know about "Project Gunwalker," were they the only senior government officials so out of touch? Well, we can probably assume Vice President Biden wasn't in on it either. Otherwise, he would probably not have managed to avoid calling it a "big f---ing deal" within range of a microphone. [More]

FBI complicity in 'Gunwalker' refutes 'rogue operation by leaderless ATF' claim

In fact, in the sidebar video, Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA, and Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee) hammers home the point that for Attorney General Eric Holder, there are only two possibilities. Either he knew about about this monstrosity, approved it, and has since been lying to cover it up; or he has been utterly clueless about the actions of the Cabinet level department he was chosen by President Obama, and approved by the Democrat-controlled Senate, to lead. That kind of "leadership" in not just "phoning it in"--a closer metaphor would be that he attempted to meet his responsibilities by keeping in touch via an occasional postcard. [More]

'Reward' Congressional oathbreakers with a white feather

The newest addition to the blogroll is (author of the Constitution Watch blog, and former Tucson Gun Rights Examiner) Chris Woodard's The White Feather.

I'll let Chris explain it:

The concept of the White Feather.

For years I’ve been fascinated with GIVING of the White Feather. The idea appears to have first started by the British Military in the mid 1800s. The single White Feather was given to a fellow in the military who the giver considered a coward. This was the ULTIMATE insult and had serious consequences.

If I gave a White Feather to someone, the receiver could not give the White Feather back. He would have to prove to me that the reason I gave him the feather no longer existed. If that prove to be the case, then it would be up to me to ask for the return of the feather to me. He CANNOT just give it back. I have to ask.

A new concept for the White Feather. BREAKING THE OATH OF OFFICE.

Each and every politician, whether National, State, or Local takes an oath of office. It is the intention of this site to give a White Feather to every politician who breaks his/her “Oath of Office’ by either sponsoring or cosponsoring a piece of legislation that is Unconstitutional. The criteria is: Nationally, if the legislation is NOT within the enumerated powers granted congress under Article 1 § 8 of the Constitution, it is Unconstitutional. Abuse of the likes of the Commerce Clause, and other clauses does NOT make it Constitutional regardless of any Supreme Court decisions/opinions. The Supreme Courts authority is clearly stated in the Constitution.

So, for now, the White Feather is reserved for our various congress critters for breaking their Oath of Office. A serious offense legally which far outweighs a political agenda.
Go take a look.

'To protect and serve'? Not in Canton, Ohio--or in many other places

And about that "on camera" part. That was the squad car's dashcam. Officer Harless, in other words, knew about it--he wasn't being surreptitiously recorded, like the not-quite-equally-thuggish police officers in Philadelphia. If he knew about it, and did it anyway, he apparently didn't expect to get in trouble over it. It turns out he was wrong (although not wrong enough), but what does it say about more general attitudes in that department, that he could be anything less than positive that such behavior is utterly unacceptable? Also, what do incidents like this one (and the Philadelphia one) say about some jurisdictions' laws against making audio/video recordings of police officers? What are they trying to hide? [More]

Is 'Gunwalker' whistleblower John Dodson victim of retaliatory smear campaign?

Those who want to see the "Project Gunwalker" scandal buried benefit in two ways from these retaliatory smears. First, if they discredit the whistleblowers badly enough to undermine their credibility, it becomes easier for the public (with some help from the fawning media) to dismiss the allegations. Second, the example serves as a stark warning to potential future whistleblowers.

Those behind any smear campaign against Dodson are only compounding their crimes. [More]

Then last night, Rep. Issa was on the NRA News show "Cam and Company," with Cam Edwards and Ginny Simone, talking about the scandal. Can I call him "Fast and Furious Mike" now?

David Codrea has long referred to NYC's gun hating, authority-crazed Mayor Mike Bloomberg as "Furious Mike," in honor of the gun paint color named after him, after he had gun paints banned.

Now that he has weighed in on "Operation Fast and Furious" (using it as an excuse to repeal the Tiahrt Amendment), I think it's time for his name to evolve.

'Gunwalker' could have major impact on Mexican politics

With extradition being highly unlikely, a savvy politician in Mexico might try to use this new source of anger toward the U.S. to score political points. Stolen from Iraq, and then smuggled across an ocean to Mexico, when there's a "virtually unregulated bazaar of military-style firearms" to shop from right here

No excuse for any congressman to be unaware of 'Project Gunwalker'

In other words, the government's own efforts to cover up "Project Gunwalker"--which looks very suspiciously to have been intended as a pro-"gun control" propaganda tool--are now being used to justify the release of information that would be used to attack private gun ownership in the U.S.

Using the courts to remind Illinois of the 'bear' in 'keep and bear arms'

That would seem to indicate that the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals now does acknowledge that the right to keep and bear arms, as protected by the Second Amendment, is a fundamental right. To deny the motion for an injunction against a total ban of defensive firearm carry, the court would have to edit "and bear" out of "keep and bear arms."

Editing inconvenient parts out of the Second Amendment might be acceptable for Brady Campaign legal director Dennis "What People?" Henigan, but it cannot be borne in the courts. [More]

On last day of MidwayUSA's 4th of July promotion, did my patriotic duty of protecting 2nd Amendment

At midnight tonight, MidwayUSA's Independence Day promotion ends.

Just submitted my order for over $300 (mostly ammo--.454 Casull ain't cheap, and I can't very well let the brand new Raging Judge Magnum starve, can I?). The promotion nets me a $30 discount. Two thirds of that went right back to a quadruple helping of Midway's "12*12*12 Project," whereby they match each $5 donation to the National Endowment for the Protection of the Second Amendment:

About the National Endowment for the Protection of the Second Amendment The NRA created this endowment in 1991 to help ensure the future of the Second Amendment. The contributions are never spent, but allowed to grow forever. Each year 5% of the balance, or the earnings – whichever is less, are used on legal efforts to protect the Second Amendment. Today the balance in the endowment is $8,328,114. Your NRA Round-Up contributions through MidwayUSA have gone into this endowment since January 2, 1992.
With Midway's matching $20, that's $40--plus a few cents from "NRA Round-Up" that so upsets Mother Jones, CSGV and VPC--going to legal efforts to protect the Constitutionally guaranteed, fundamental human right of the individual to keep and bear arms..

VPC's Josh Sugarmann, remember, wants us to be outraged about 74 cents going to the Round-Up, from a purchase made by a murderous POS:
A copy of the e-mail receipt sent to Sodini from MidwayUSA for his purchase of 9mm and .45 ammunition that was shipped to him courtesy of McClure-Volker includes a donation of 74 cents from the mass shooter to the NRA via the Round-Up Program.
40 bucks and change may not sound like much . . . but it's more than enough to have kept CSGV on the web for more than three years.

Plagiarism--it's not just for Sari Horwitz anymore (Updated!)

Update at Sean's NC Gun Blog:

After emailed conversation with WND Editor Joseph Farah, they have pulled the shirt from their e-store! He has given me his personal assurance that a full investigation will commence as soon as everyone gets back to the office on Monday
That's doing the right thing, WND. Thank you.

We talked about the "Gunwalker" T-shirts, and where to get them (from the concept's originator, Sean Sorrentino) on Friday.

Now, as it happens, World Net Daily is stealing the idea, word for word. Go to that link to see what you can do for Sean.

WND may not be as famous and well-established as the Washington Post, but they seem determined to match Wa Po in one respect. Just as Wa Po pays known plagiarist Sari Horwitz a handsome salary, WND is similarly keen on stealing the intellectual property of others.

That kind of conduct makes, I suppose, a certain degenerate sense for a collectivist rag like Wa Po (Pravda on the Potomac, as Mike Vanderboegh calls them). For WND, where liberty and the free markets are supposedly respected, it reeks of hypocrisy.

Is this really any more 'felony stupid' than 'Project Gunwalker'?

Saw the following video this morning, and have no idea as to whether or not it's authentic (Update: and now know, courtesy of Sean, that it is not, but that doesn't really change my point), and realized that I can't think of many reasons to believe that giving a loaded automatic rifle to a chimpanzee is any more criminally irresponsible than facilitating the trafficking of thousands of firearms to known murderers. I tweeted it, as "BATFE's next trick?" but decided I had a little more than 140 characters to say about it.

If, as I am firmly convinced, the motive behind the Obama government's gun trafficking--and abetting mass murder--was to fabricate a justification for more forcible citizen disarmament laws, arming the chimp was dramatically less evil.

Get your 'Gunwalker' T-shirt today!

I'll let Sean explain it.

Obama administration pretends moral authority on guns, plans new restrictions

Sipsey Street Irregular Mike Vanderboegh warns us today not to make "Project Gunwalker" all about the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). This is much bigger than that one agency, and much bigger than guns.

This is a question of the very legitimacy of this administration's governance, coming (coincidentally?) at a time that the same regime is discussing ways to make resistance against an illegitimate government more difficult. [More]

Let's bring 'Project Gunwalker' to Obama's 'Twitter Town Hall meeting' about the economy

In light of stunning new revelations in BATFE Acting Director Kenneth Melson's testimony Monday to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, as revealed by Fox News:

In a separate development, congressional sources have learned that not only was U.S. taxpayer money being used to buy guns that were later sent to Mexico, but the main target of the investigation was actually a FBI informant and former drug dealer who had been deported years ago.
This seems a good question to tweet for Obama's "Twitter Town Hall Meeting" on the economy, which just started:
#AskObama With a foundering economy & enormous deficit, why did our taxes buy illegal guns for "Project #Gunwalker"? http://fxn.ws/nJgqXu
I just tweeted it--care to retweet?

Is Obama deciding 'whose ass to kick' over 'Project Gunwalker'?

Seeing Obama's statement about "talking to experts," during the oil spill days reminds me of something, though. Where have we recently heard about "talking to experts" about "Operation Fast and Furious"? Oh, yeah--the supposed "expertise" assembled by Congressman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) for his "Gunwalker" show trial against gun rights (it was not an actual hearing) last week. Care to guess "whose ass" their report (which was released before Cummings' little event) recommends kicking? If you guessed the American gun owner's, you're right on target. [More]

There shouldn't be a FOID system--whereby citizens must approach the state, hat in hand, to request to be ruled "fit" to exercise their Constitutionally guaranteed, fundamental human right of the individual to keep and bear arms--to begin with. Independence and 'government monopoly on force' are mutually exclusive

There can be no independence when citizens must depend on armed agents of the government to come to rescue them--something the government is under no obligation to do--when predatory evil threatens.

There can be no independence when citizens must
depend on the government being willing to "license" their Constitutionally guaranteed, fundamental human right of the individual to keep and bear arms.
