Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signs bill to protect gun owners' privacy

We've talked about this rather a lot (most recently in late May, when the state legislature passed the bill, with broad bipartisan support). It is the position of St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner that the entire "government accountability" argument for release of the data is bogus. There shouldn't be a FOID system--whereby citizens must approach the state, hat in hand, to request to be ruled "fit" to exercise their Constitutionally guaranteed, fundamental human right of the individual to keep and bear arms--to begin with. Therefore, this data isn't legitimately the state's to "account for" in the first place. [More]
